Up the Cushy Factor

2 of 7

Add color and cohesion by investing in a few new textiles, the easiest and fastest way to add a surge of personality to a kitchen. Try new barstool cushions, valences, or a new runner or rug, Furey says. “An indoor/outdoor rug that is easy to clean is a great choice for high-traffic areas like the kitchen.” If you have an eat-in kitchen, complement new textiles with napkins and refreshed place settings. Just make sure that the new look fits in with existing colors and patterns in your kitchen and that it won’t feel out of place when seasons change.
