Take a Seat

2 of 7

Comfortable, upholstered seating in the kitchen is the best way to ensure you'll never be left alone at the stove. But upholstery here requires some special considerations: Because food and drink will be nearby, choose user-friendly fabrics, such as washable or even outdoor fabrics. Slipcovers provide an extra layer of insurance for that inevitable spill. For built-in seating, depth, angles, firmness, filling material and construction all play important roles in comfort and durability, so do some research before you settle on a final design.
