Mistake #1: Putting the sink in the center of the island

While cleanup sinks can benefit from space on both sides to pile up dishes, it's best not to split the counter space around a prep sink unless you have a particularly large amount to work with. Instead, put the prep sink off to one side so that there's as much continuous counter space as possible. (Yes, this might assault your sense of symmetry initially, but I promise you'll get used to it!) The prep sink should be located away from the refrigerator so that items coming out of the fridge have clear counter on which to land.

Great information. Considering small sink in prep pantry next to kitchen then regular size single bowl sink in main kitchen. Have not seen this done so would appreciate any comments pro and con. Thanks.
