Purge Before You Pack

1 of 8

The last thing you want in your newly remodeled kitchen is a pile of unloved and damaged items from your old one. De-cluttering before you pack things away will help determine your packing material needs, while also ensuring that broken and mismatched kitchen items stay out of your new kitchen. Three weeks before the builders arrive, set aside an afternoon to ruthlessly sort through your cupboards, pantry, and drawers, tossing any damaged items and donating those in good condition.

Next section: Ease Into Packing

Item 5 is the most important; some sort of cold storage is also essential, either plugging in the old fridge somewhere else (far more practical than your "store items in a second freezer" for those of us living in the real world who don't HAVE a second freezer) or ice and a good sized cooler.

I have an all white kitchen and the paint is coming off and the counter top is Formica on a particle board and the seams show. considered granite top but my girlfriend dropped a glass on it and it chipped. need something that requires no maintenance as I am 75 years old. any suggestions will be appreciated.
