Color is an amazing design tool, especially in the kitchen. A splash of vivid color can transform a neutral room from blah to inspired with very little effort—and the effect is even more stunning when it's applied somewhere unexpected, like on a range or a wall oven. While stainless steel and white appliances are the standard for modern kitchens, the design tide is slowly turning toward colorful ovens. Adding color makes the range the true star of a kitchen—not just in function, but in form, too. Here are 6 of our favorite scene-stealers.

1. In the Navy

The stunning crisp blue tones of La Cornue's CornuFé range capture everything we love about traditional ranges, while also giving this classic color a modern edge. Blend it with wood and rich neutral tones for a traditional look, or couple it with harmonizing blues and whites for a more contemporary take. As for the higher price tag, there's a reason La Cornue stoves have reached icon status: The gas vaulted oven offers a natural convection cooking process, while the cooktop features five professional burners capable of reaching different levels of heat for various cooking tasks.

2. Green with Envy

More palatable than its color cousin avocado (which could lead to '70s flashbacks), this pistachio range from AGA hints at the charm of a traditional English kitchen while also being the perfect complement to industrial designs. Its pastel tone and timeless form are ideal for anyone passionate about vintage style, and the new Total Control configuration adds a touch of helpful technology, with 10 cooking options accessed via a user-friendly touch-screen panel and remote handset. That's what we call a perfect blend between tradition and technology!

3. Cream of the Crop

This cream range from Italian legend Bertazzoni doesn't just make a color statement; it also has the modern technology to match the enthusiasm of a series cook. This super-wide range's sleek lines allow it to fit beautifully into a contemporary kitchen design. And with two ovens, six burners and an electric griddle, it's a boon for frequent entertainers. The pairing of the auxiliary and convection ovens was designed with passionate foodies in mind; the one-piece worktop molding makes cleanup simple.

4. Seeing Red

Red is a perennially popular accent color in U.S. kitchens, and Viking's electric double oven embraces this adoration with a candy-apple finish. The oven's clean, sleek lines will complement a wide range of kitchen designs, and it offers multiple convection and conventional settings for the adventurous cook. It also has the largest capacity in the industry and a quick preheat system—features you'll no doubt appreciate if you're cooking for a crowd.

5. Plum Pickings

With 190 color possibilities to choose from, Blue Star offers the most extensive standard color palette for design enthusiasts. We're fond of this muted plum color, which blends the contemporary edge of stainless steel with the softness of the plum tone, making it an equally good fit for a rustic or industrial-inspired kitchen. This handcrafted range doesn't just make a color statement, though; it also boasts high-heat open burners and a convection fan system that deliver professional-level results.

6. Beachy Keen

Designed for small spaces, Big Chill's wall oven offers modern cooking features with a retro appearance in more than 200 custom color options. The Beach Blue (one of eight standard colors) is a great choice for brightening up compact kitchens where style and function are both high priorities. Even though it's small enough to fit in an island or be stacked within a wall, the oven is still large enough to hold a commercially sized baking tray. The convection fan system allows you to cook varied types of food (say, a roast and a pie) at the same time.

OMG! they are so beautiful! I love the navy and the pistachio colors/designs! Way out of my price range - but LOVE!

oh, and forgot to add, they are objects of art! I could look at those all day long :)

Yes, quite the dream list of colorful ovens, I think that once the trend for colorful ovens and ranges has a moment to settle, the prices will reduce and other manufactures will start offer lower price options....watch this space.

This artlice really should be named "Are you wealthy enough for these Ovens?". I, (and most peopel) can only dream about them!

love the retro...Big Chill has what I like...style and colors

I feel in love with the Big Chill retro finish as well Charlene.
