The latest trend in residential gardening is making its way into the kitchen—and not just on our dinner plates. If you live in an urban setting, chances are you've seen vertical accent gardening (those clever little wall boxes filled with succulents and other small plants) adorning apartment exteriors and backyard walls. After all, city building is about maximizing heights, right?
Now that same concept is gaining popularity in the kitchen in the form of vertical herb planters. It's a genius idea, really. The beauty being that it not only positions fresh herbs within arm's reach while cooking, but it literally brings kitchen walls to life. (And who wouldn't want a year-round dose of lush greenery?) Not to mention that bringing the outdoors in is a huge trend in the kitchen and beyond.
Thankfully the maintenance is super simple. Just fill the planting cells (a standard planter comes with about 10) with the herb of your choice and water as needed through the top irrigator. A hidden, removable collector tray catches excess runoff while a moisture mat ensures even distribution of water throughout.
