The details in the space are in every corner beginning with the wood clad columns on the island. This particular detail may not be for every one but it does ground the island to the space rather than having it float amongst the rest of the cabinetry. If columns are not quite your thing, try changing the island color from the rest of your cabinetry or a different countertop material. Also lighting can play a huge role in differentiating the space from the others.
