The first question was "Can you help turn our garage into a kitchen?" and the rest, as they say, is history. The space was large and open, literally a 2-car garage. A real challenge was an exhaustive list of requirements from the wife, the family’s main cook. Suddenly large raw space became very small, with all the items and functions to be included. 3 zones were created: main kitchen, butler’s pantry & bar and home office. A lawn equipment storage room converted into a home office area. That left the main garage space to become the kitchen, butler’s pantry and mud room. The final challenge was to accommodate differing styles between Mr. and Mrs. She wanted “urban”, he wanted “modern”. Materials and finishes were mixed to achieve a space where both are comfortable. After months of renovation, this kitchen caters to her extensive cooking needs, accommodates large gatherings and everyone is content and relaxed.
