Nothing beats a classic kitchen. All the better when it emulates important eras in history. “The neoclassical architecture we’ve used for this kitchen—with all its corbels, cornices, moldings and friezes—has been around for two thousand years,” says Robert Williams, Habersham Home’s VP of Design. “And it’s going to be around for another two thousand to come.”
What began as a handcrafted furniture company, Habersham has evolved its wares into custom kitchens such as this opulent design inside the company’s North Carolina showroom. The space features its line of cabinetry made of solid maple and furniture grade veneers. The Huntington finish is a combination of creams edged with taupe highlights that pop against the rich umber walls. Tall arched cabinets with mirrored backdrops help bounce light for eye-catching displays. The counters along the perimeter are Tahoe Brown granite from the Stone Resource.
The ornate island, with its distressed maple counter and built-in sink, offers prep and seating space for up to four French County stools, also by Habersham. Nearby, the hood is made of solid maple and elaborate detailing to match its surroundings. “We were first a furniture company so we continue this standard by making kitchens that reflect the beauty, comfort and functionality of high-quality furniture,” notes Williams. “Just because something has a job to do doesn’t mean it can’t do it while looking and feeling elegant.”
To that end, the kitchen is chockfull of high-end appliances including the Aga stove and heating drawers and integrated Sub Zero refrigerator. The 700 series fridge includes freezer drawers as well as no visible hinges or grilles allowing the facing to take all the glory. The Habersham team took advantage of this by giving it a regal Bordeaux-style carving.
The farmhouse sink by Native Trails is made of hammered copper. On either side is enough storage to please any homeowner. Drawers and cabinets are fitted with hardware from Hafele and Blum, which, Williams opines, are the best in the business even if one can’t see any of it from the outside. Cabinet shelves pull out and can be adjusted while drawers can be hyper organized with maple inserts from Hafele to accommodate any need.

ugh!
