Just one of the many hidden "special" places throughout this home, when slid aside, these doors reveal the kitchen pantry beyond. Reclaimed materials were used throughout the home, not only as part of a conscious recycling effort, but also to create the sense that the new home had actually existed at the site for many generations. These sliding doors were built from a combination of antique natural and painted barn board. They allow quick access to every day pantry items, while at the same time hiding the clutter behind. The movement of the doors animates the kitchen; children are delighted to discover their mid-day snacks inside after returning from a morning at the beach.
