This kitchen is a fantastic mix of old and new styling—it's traditional and modern, detailed yet simple. Owned by a shelter magazine editor and her avid-cook husband, this kitchen features gold-toned tile and crisp white cabinets for a warm, clean feel. The editor has published many of my projects in her magazine, so I was thrilled when she chose me to design her own kitchen. The biggest challenge for this project was working around the powder room that juts into the corner of the kitchen. I solved this by taking the cabinets to the ceiling and designing a 5" deep tall cabinet in front of the powder room. The eye assumes this is a 24" deep cabinet, completely hiding the 'problem.' This simple solution also allowed us to replace the peninsula with an island, making a world of difference in both cooking and entertaining. This kitchen is full of details, yet stays true to the home's Craftsman styling. And that 5" deep cabinet? It's now the homeowner's favorite detail!

I love it because it doesn't like the Palace but I will feel very comfortable. When I go off work and don't want to be in the bar or other place for out eating, here is the best place I want to stay, eat and relax.
