The kitchen in this large executive home was ready for an update. We removed all the cabinetry, appliances, counter tops, lighting and changed the architecture of the space. The beaded inset cabinetry in rich cherry wood with a black glaze accented by two islands painted with a custom hand applied glaze. Each island is topped with solid walnut wood tops. The Sub Zero and Wolf appliance package includes two microwave drawers... yes two. This active family requested two due to the different schedules and often congestion at the one microwave that was in the previous design. Why not? after all most kitchens today have two ovens, dishwashers and refrigeration so why not two microwaves? We custom designed the breakfast table to compliment the wood counter tops that were made from solid walnut by Paul Grothouse We changed the location of the center column between the openings that divide the kitchen from the family room. Once the column was centered we raised the height of the openings and changed them from a boxed opening to graceful segmented arches. We repeated this with the opening between the kitchen and the keeping room. Additionally, we changed the height of the doors leading into the mudroom and dining room and continued the arches at the top of these doors as well. We added a deep coffered ceiling detail to the space making the ten foot ceilings more interesting. Within the coffer we installed recessed lighting at each juncture. While we were unable to make the space larger by taking space from other areas or even adding onto the home we changed the space to such a degree that it feels like an entirely new room. Family and guest that visit the home now think we added space to the kitchen. Just goes to show by simply changing the architectural accents of the space can really enhance the overall feel of the room.

Absolutely Gorgeous! Where is the refrigerator! I want a drink at the bar!

Thank you so much... the 48" Sub Zero is hidden behind cabinet panels in the center of the oven wall.
