By raising the roof, pushing out the back wall a few feet, and focusing large windows on the big terraced garden, this 1950's kitchen was transformed into a wonderful space for cooking, dining, entertaining, and living. Low cabinets are black plastic laminate, while high cabinets are maple, muted with a faint gray/lavender stain. There are built-ins for recycling, appliances,, paperwork, and books. There is even a built-in niche for the cats' food and water. A custom stainless steel back splash with a formed-in shelf provides a clean look, with an opportunity for display.
