This Spanish bungalow kitchen was completely remodeled to bring it into the 21st century. The inspiration for the jewel tones of the handmade Malibu tiles came from the clients' favorite Alberta Varga painting. A custom-designed tile backsplash, countertops and island were created from tiles hand-selected and color-coded by the designer. The tiles were also used to decorate the custom-built vent hood. All Viking appliances were used, along with a copper sink, bronze faucet and cabinet hardware. To break up the impact of all the wood cabinetry, Marlene commissioned artist Lucy Jensen to create a teal wash for some of the cabinets, including the refrigerator door panels. Glass cabinet fronts showcase the owner's love of fiestaware pottery.
