This kitchen design is a nod to the past with its shaker cabinets, subway tile, and carrera marble, but has a modern feel with its large chrome cabinet hardware and the galvanized metal island and maple butcher block top. The marble countertops were acid etched to remove the fear of scratching and staining and also to establish a sense of patina. NCD-designed the metal shelves that display the day to day dishes the owners use and no upper cabinets were installed to keep the space as open as possible.
