New kitchen for a summer house in the Hamptons with direct access to the pool and garden. The objective was to create a discreet place to cook and covers while keeping the kitchen visually separate from the rest of the house. the use of the skylights bring plenty of daylight making the use of artificial light unnecessary all day long. The island acts as both table and work surface allowing for lots of social interaction.

Why the bar stools? There is no counter top overhang to justify them. Makes zero sense!

This was a very tight space and the island is made up of two full depth cabinets back to back not allowing for an overhang given the solid surfacing material we were using for the top. The stools are still useful because you can sit and participate in the kitchen and people do all the time.
